Course Objectives:
The Objective of this course is to develop a basic understanding of Total Quality (TQ) in educational settings: at school and in the classroom. TQ in Education involves the continuous improvement of all the processes related to education.
This course includes: The main concepts and principles of TQ, Customer satisfaction, Managing quality processes, mission, vision and planning, organizational culture and climate, Leadership, Quality teams at school and in the classroom, Quality tools, Main obstacles to Quality, Measurement and Evaluation, Strategic Planning in education, Quality in the ELT classroom, General rules of Innovative teaching and some outstanding educational systems within the educational history like Village Institutions.
Course Contents:
- Systems approach to education. Its reflections in the past and for the future.
- Defining Quality, Main pillars and principles of Total Quality (TQ)
- Definition of Customer-Supplier Relationship in Educational Settings, Organizational culture and climate
- Mission, vision and goals: Preparation of “Strategic planning”
- Leadership in Q and Managing Quality Processes
- Quality Teams / Circles (From theory to Practice)
- Q Tools and their applications to the classrooms
- Quality in the (ELT) Classroom
- Innovative ideas and ways in schools
- Measurement and Evaluation. Samples of Rubric preparation
- Obstacles to quality in general and specific fields: Some recommendations
- General evaluation.
Basis for Evaluation:
Mid-term/Project including portfolio (40%) + Final Exam (40%) + Participation & Attendance (20%)
